Environment Canada has issued a yellow arctic outflow warning for northern British Columbia. The alert was triggered by an Arctic high pressure ridge building over the region, which is expected to bring a combination of strong outflow winds and dangerously low temperatures.

The warning is specifically in effect for the North Coast - Inland region. This geographic area includes the communities of Terrace and Kitimat.

Residents are cautioned that any outdoor activity exposes individuals to an increased risk of frostbite. Environment Canada advises the public to continue monitoring local alerts and forecasts. Expected Conditions
As the Arctic high pressure ridge builds, temperatures are forecast to drop into the negative double digits. These low temperatures, combined with strong outflow winds, are expected to produce wind chill values near or below minus 20.

The warning is effective immediately. The period of highest concern begins tonight and is expected to persist through Thursday morning.
