Environment Canada has issued an orange snow squall watch for the Midland, Coldwater, and Orr Lake regions. The alert was issued following the passage of a cold front, signaling a period of significant lake effect snow and hazardous conditions.

The watch specifically covers Midland, Coldwater, and Orr Lake. The highest snowfall accumulations are expected in locations situated east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

Lake effect snow squalls are forecast to produce local snowfall amounts ranging from 20 to 40 cm. Temperatures are expected to fall sharply, accompanied by westerly to northwesterly winds gusting between 70 and 90 km/h. These winds will cause extensive blowing snow and near-zero visibility.

The alert is effective starting Monday evening and continues through Tuesday afternoon. Hazardous travel conditions are expected to be most severe through Tuesday morning, with conditions projected to improve by Tuesday afternoon.
