The Environment Agency has issued a Flood Alert (Severity Level 3) for the River Yeo and Parrett area. While floodwater levels are currently reducing, a considerable amount of water remains across the region.

The alert specifically covers the Somerset Levels and Moors within the Wessex area. Impacted locations include low-lying moors at Muchelney and West Sedgemoor. The geographic scope encompasses the River Yeo, River Parrett, Kings Sedgemoor Drain, and River Sowy.

Field teams are currently monitoring the situation and operating structures and pumps. Pumping is being maximized at the Huish Episcopi pumping station, and operations continue at the West Sedgemoor pumping station. While water levels are currently receding, showers are forecast for Thursday, followed by a band of heavier rain expected overnight into Friday, March 13.
