The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Yeo and River Parrett area. The alert was officially raised at 10:14 AM on February 27, 2026, in response to high water levels following recent precipitation.
Affected Areas
The alert covers the Somerset region, specifically the areas between Yeovilton and Huish Episcopi. A considerable amount of floodwater remains on the Somerset Levels and Moors, with low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Yeo currently affected.

Residents are advised to take care and avoid walking, cycling, or driving through flood water. The Environment Agency urges the public not to put themselves or others at risk. Field teams are currently operating structures and pumps, as well as clearing debris screens to manage the water levels.
Expected Conditions
While the Parrett Relief Channel downstream is being utilized and pumps are operating at capacity, additional weather impacts are expected. Scattered showers are forecast for Friday afternoon, with the potential for heavier localized rainfall on Friday evening and overnight into Saturday morning. Conditions are expected to improve by Saturday afternoon, which is forecast to be largely dry.
