Blizzard Warning Issued for Carlton and South St. Louis Counties

The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Blizzard Warning for Carlton and South St. Louis Counties. The alert is currently in effect as of February 17 and is scheduled to remain active until noon CST on Thursday, February 19.

The warning specifically covers Carlton and South St. Louis Counties in Minnesota. This geographic area includes the Tribal Lands of the Fond du Lac Band.

Expected Conditions

Blizzard conditions are expected to produce additional snow accumulations between 4 and 7 inches, though the higher terrain of the North Shore may see between 5 and 12 inches. A light glaze of ice accumulation is also possible. Wind gusts are forecast to reach as high as 60 mph. These strong winds and the weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and cause sporadic power outages. Whiteout conditions are expected, making travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening.
