The National Weather Service in Gaylord, MI has issued a Blizzard Warning for the region. This alert replaces a previous Ice Storm Warning and indicates a significant threat to life and property due to severe winter weather conditions.

The warning specifically covers the following counties in Northern Michigan:
- Charlevoix County
- Cheboygan County

Residents and travelers are advised that travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, ensure you have a winter survival kit in your vehicle. If you become stranded, stay with your vehicle to remain safe and visible to rescuers.

- Snow and Sleet: Accumulations between 4 and 12 inches are expected. Locally higher amounts exceeding 12 inches are possible across the northern half of the affected counties.
- Ice: Accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are possible.
- Wind: Gusts are expected to reach as high as 45 mph, contributing to blizzard conditions and reduced visibility.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. These hazardous conditions are expected to severely impact both the Monday morning and evening commutes. Additionally, gusty winds may bring down tree branches.
Timeline
The Blizzard Warning is effective immediately and will remain in place until 8:00 PM EDT on Monday, March 16. The most significant impacts are expected to coincide with the Monday commute periods.
