Blizzard Warning Issued for Northeast Wisconsin: Up to 20 Inches of Snow and 50 MPH Gusts Expected
A Blizzard Warning has been issued for Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago, and Calumet counties, with heavy snow and dangerous blowing snow expected through Monday afternoon.
Alert Details
The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a Blizzard Warning for portions of Northeast Wisconsin. This alert follows a Winter Storm Warning as a significant weather system moves through the region, bringing heavy snow and high winds.
Affected Areas
The warning is in effect for the following Wisconsin counties:
- Brown
- Calumet
- Outagamie
- Winnebago
Specific locations mentioned include Oshkosh and Brillion, which are expected to see the lower end of the predicted snow totals.
Expected Conditions
- Precipitation: Heavy snow is expected. Snow will mix with or change to sleet, freezing rain, and rain at times late Saturday night into Sunday afternoon before changing back to all snow.
- Accumulations: Total snow and sleet accumulations are forecast between 12 and 20 inches. Ice accumulations of one-tenth to two-tenths of an inch are possible.
- Wind: Gusts as high as 50 mph are expected, resulting in considerable blowing and drifting snow and blizzard conditions.
- Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility, and gusty winds could bring down tree branches. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact the Monday morning commute.
Timeline
- Winter Storm Warning: In effect from 10:00 PM Saturday, March 14, until 4:00 PM CDT Sunday, March 15.
- Blizzard Warning: In effect from 4:00 PM Sunday, March 15, until 4:00 PM CDT Monday, March 16.
