The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Blizzard Warning for portions of southwest Minnesota and east central South Dakota. The alert was issued on March 13 and covers a period of severe winter weather expected to create hazardous conditions across the region.

- Southwest Minnesota: Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Cottonwood, Nobles, Jackson, and Pipestone counties.
- East Central South Dakota: Brookings and Moody counties.

According to the National Weather Service, residents should prepare for the following conditions:
- Snow Accumulation: Total snow accumulations between 6 and 13 inches are expected.
- Ice Accumulation: A light glaze of ice is possible.
- Wind Speeds: Winds are forecast to gust as high as 55 mph.
- Visibility: Whiteout conditions are expected, which will make travel extremely dangerous or impossible.
- Impacts: Travel is expected to be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions are likely to impact the Monday morning commute, and strong winds may cause tree damage.
