Flash Flood Warning Issued for Butler, Carter, and Wayne Counties in Missouri

The National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky, has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northwestern Butler County, southeastern Carter County, and southern Wayne County in southeastern Missouri. The warning is in effect until 12:45 PM CST on Saturday, March 7.

The warning impacts several communities and landmarks in southeastern Missouri, including:

- Lake Wappapello State Park
- Ellsinore
- Williamsville
- Hendrickson
- Brush Arbor
- Shook
- Hunter
- Grandin

Residents are urged to take immediate precautions. The National Weather Service advises: “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads.” Most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles. Avoid low-lying areas and monitor local conditions closely.
Expected Conditions
At 6:38 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts in excess of 1 inch are possible. Expected hazards include flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
