Flood Warning Issued for Barton, Dade, and Jasper Counties in Southwest Missouri
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for portions of southwest Missouri until noon Saturday following heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service in Springfield, MO has issued a Flood Warning (NWS Alert Code: FLW) for southwest Missouri. The alert is in response to flooding caused by excessive rainfall currently impacting the region.
Affected Areas
The warning covers the following counties in southwest Missouri:
- Barton County
- Dade County
- Jasper County
Specific locations expected to experience flooding include Northern Joplin, Carthage, Webb City, Carl Junction, Oronogo, Carterville, Lockwood, Jasper, Golden City, Alba, Purcell, Airport Drive, Carytown, Neck City, Brooklyn Heights, Arcola, Kenoma, Dudenville, Boston, Sylvania, Cedarville, Neola, Bona, and Stockton Lake.
Specific low water crossings identified as hazardous include:
- Sons Creek at County Road 113
- Dry Fork at Pine Road
- Lousy Branch at County Road 85
- Muddy Creek at Highway 126
What You Should Do
Residents are urged to “Turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads. Many flood deaths occur in vehicles. Avoid low-lying areas and do not attempt to drive through water-covered roadways.
Expected Conditions
As of 4:56 AM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area, with between 2 and 3 inches of rain having already fallen. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
Timeline
The Flood Warning is effective immediately and is scheduled to remain in effect until 12:00 PM CST on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
