Flood Warning Issued for Chelan County and Lower Stehekin Valley Through Sunday Night

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Flood Warning for the lower Stehekin Valley in North Central Washington. The alert was issued on Saturday night and remains in effect through Sunday evening.

Observed flooding should be reported to local emergency services or law enforcement when it is safe to do so. The National Weather Service advises avoiding these areas until conditions improve.

Expected Conditions

Flooding is being driven by a combination of rainfall and snowmelt. Expected rainfall amounts range between 0.15 and 0.5 inches. As of 9:21 PM PST, the Stehekin River was rising toward action stage, with flooding expected to begin shortly in the warned area.

Specific river level impacts include:

• 19.3 feet: Water breaches the river bank.
• 20 feet: Water inundates some properties and overtops the temporary corduroy bridge. Company Creek Road begins to flood at the northern end, and Battalion Creek culverts begin to overtop.
• 20.5 feet: Water begins to damage Wood Road.
