Flood Warning Issued for Evansville and Surrounding Counties in Indiana and Kentucky

A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Paducah KY. This alert replaces a previous flood advisory and is in effect for portions of Indiana and western Kentucky.

Affected Areas

The warning covers the following geographic regions:

• Indiana Counties: Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick.
• Kentucky Counties: Daviess, Henderson, and Union.

Specific locations expected to experience flooding include Evansville, Henderson, Mount Vernon, Boonville, Newburgh, Morganfield, Chandler, Rockport, Melody Hill, Breckinridge Center, Dale, Darmstadt, Uniontown, Lynnville, Grandview, Corydon, Robards, Kasson, Stanley, and Eureka.

What You Should Do

Residents are urged to follow the safety protocol: “Turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. Local officials advise avoiding flooded areas and low-lying spots where water may be deeper than it appears.

Expected Conditions

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is currently occurring or imminent. Local officials and trained spotters have already reported high water and street flooding in Evansville and Henderson County.

• Rainfall Totals: Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen.
• Additional Rainfall: Up to 0.5 inches of additional rain is possible in the warned area.
• Impacts: Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff. Flooding is expected in rivers, creeks, streams, and other flood-prone locations.
