NWS Memphis TN has issued a Flood Warning for Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Pontotoc, and Union counties until 8:30 PM CDT following reports of structure flooding and heavy rainfall.

The National Weather Service in Memphis, TN, has issued a Flood Warning for portions of North Mississippi. The alert was triggered by excessive rainfall from thunderstorms, with flooding already reported in the region.

The warning covers the following counties in North Mississippi:

- Marshall
- Pontotoc
- Union
Specific locations expected to experience flooding include New Albany, Pontotoc, Trace State Park, Ecru, New Harmony, Pinedale, Etta, Keownville, Furrs, Sherman, Thaxton, Algoma, Toccopola, Blue Springs, Cherry Creek, Ingomar, Hortontown, Bald Hill, Buchannan, and Martintown.

- Turn around, don’t drown: Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads. Most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.

Expected Conditions
As of 5:28 PM CDT, trained weather spotters have reported heavy rain across the warned area due to thunderstorms. Rainfall totals between 1 and 2.5 inches have already fallen. The National Weather Service reports that flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying locations is occurring. Notably, several structures are currently flooded, and sandbagging operations are continuing in some areas.
