The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio TX has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of south central Texas. The warning was issued following radar-indicated storm activity observed at 6:59 PM CST.
Affected Areas
The warning covers the following geographic regions:
- Northeastern Llano County
- Northwestern Burnet County
Specific locations impacted include Buchanan Lake Village, Lake Victor, Bluffton, Sunnylane, and Tow. At the time of issuance, the severe thunderstorm was located over Buchanan Lake Village, or approximately 7 miles north of Buchanan Dam, moving northeast at 15 mph.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. If you are on or near Lake Buchanan, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle immediately. Do not be caught on the water during a thunderstorm.
Lightning is a significant hazard with this storm; if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Additionally, torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
