The warning impacts the following geographic regions in central Illinois:
- Northeastern Logan County
- Western De Witt County
- Southeastern Tazewell County
- Southwestern McLean County
Specific locations in the path of these storms include Lincoln, Atlanta, McLean, Waynesville, Beason, Chestnut, Heyworth, Kenney, Clinton, Downs, and Wapella. The warning also covers Interstate 55 between mile markers 120 and 124, and between 128 and 151, as well as Interstate 74 between mile markers 141 and 144.

At 5:39 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Armington to near Cornland, moving east at 30 mph. Expected hazards include:
