The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of west central and southwestern Indiana. This alert is effective immediately following radar-indicated severe weather in the region.
Affected Areas
The warning covers the following geographic regions:
- West Central Indiana: Vigo, Clay, Parke, Southern Vermillion, and Northwestern Putnam counties.
- Southwestern Indiana: Sullivan, North central Knox, and Northwestern Greene counties.
Specific locations impacted include Terre Haute, Brazil, Clinton, Sullivan, Rockville, West Terre Haute, Jasonville, Fairview Park, Shelburn, Prairieton, Prairie Creek, Farmersburg, Seelyville, Dugger, Knightsville, Hymera, Fairbanks, Rosedale, Carlisle, and Harmony. This also includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 1 and 25.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Residents should remain alert for possible tornado development, as tornadoes can form quickly during severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado, go at once to a basement or a small central room.

- Wind: Gusts up to 60 mph are expected.
- Hazards: Radar indicates the potential for damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
- Movement: At 9:51 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 6 miles north of Clinton to near Palestine, moving northeast at 45 mph.
