The National Weather Service in Honolulu HI has issued a Special Marine Warning for the Kauai Channel and Kauai Leeward Waters. The alert was issued at 5:50 PM HST on March 10 and remains in effect until 7:45 PM HST.

The warning covers the Kauai Channel and Kauai Leeward Waters. Specific locations impacted include Nohili Point, Kikiaola Harbor, and FAD Buoys KK, PP, and AA.
What You Should Do
Mariners and residents in the affected areas should prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding downpours. It is advised to stay low or go below deck and ensure that all individuals on board are wearing life jackets.
Expected Conditions
At 5:49 PM HST, radar indicated a strong thunderstorm located 30 nautical miles southeast of the southern tip of Niihau, or 37 nautical miles southwest of Kaumakani. The storm is moving northeast at 25 knots. Hazards include wind gusts up to 40 knots. Small craft could be damaged by briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
