The National Weather Service in Juneau, AK, has issued a Storm Warning for the coastal waters of Southeast Alaska. This alert follows a progression of hazardous marine conditions, including a Small Craft Advisory and a Gale Warning, as a significant weather system moves through the region.

The primary area affected includes the coastal waters from Cape Decision to Cape Edgecumbe, extending out to 15 nautical miles.
What You Should Do
Mariners are urged to take immediate precautions. The National Weather Service recommends that mariners remain in port, alter their course to avoid the most severe conditions, and/or secure their vessels. Storm-force winds and hazardous seas can easily capsize or damage vessels and will significantly reduce visibility.
Expected Conditions
Conditions are expected to intensify through Saturday:
- Small Craft Advisory Period: Southwest winds 15 to 25 knots with gusts up to 30 knots; seas 14 to 19 feet.
- Gale Warning Period: Southwest winds 30 to 35 knots with gusts up to 40 knots; seas 12 to 17 feet.
- Storm Warning Period: West winds 40 to 50 knots and seas 17 to 22 feet are expected.

- Gale Warning: In effect from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM AKST, Saturday, March 7.
