The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Tornado Warning for southern Porter County and northern Jasper County in northwestern Indiana. This alert is classified as a Particularly Dangerous Situation, following the confirmation of a large and extremely dangerous tornado in the area.

- Northern Jasper County
At 7:40 PM CDT, the tornado was located over DeMotte. Other locations in the direct path include Wheatfield (expected around 7:50 PM CDT).

TAKE COVER NOW. This is a life-threatening situation. Residents should immediately move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. If you are in a mobile home, vehicle, or outdoors, you must move to the nearest substantial shelter to protect yourself from flying debris.
Do not wait to see or hear the tornado. Heavy rainfall and nighttime conditions are making this tornado extremely difficult to see.

- Wind/Motion: Moving east at 25 mph. Two circulations have been noted: one west of DeMotte and one just southeast of DeMotte.

- Impact: Flying debris will be deadly. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles is likely, with complete destruction possible.
