The National Weather Service in Great Falls, MT, has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and the Centennial Mountains. The alert was issued early Thursday morning and remains in effect until 3:00 PM MST.

The warning covers the Gallatin and Madison County Mountains as well as the Centennial Mountains.
Expected Conditions
Heavy, wet snow is expected throughout the region, with significant accumulations varying by elevation:
- Below 7,000 feet: Total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches.
- Above 7,000 feet: Total snow accumulations between 9 and 16 inches.
- Wind: Gusts are expected to reach as high as 35 mph.
Additional hazards include the potential for isolated power outages due to the heavy, wet nature of the snow.

Travel could be very difficult, and tire chains may be required for some vehicles. Residents and travelers are advised to take the following actions:
- If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
