Winter Storm Warning Issued for Gallatin and Madison County Mountains

The National Weather Service in Great Falls, MT, has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and the Centennial Mountains. The alert was issued early Thursday morning and remains in effect until 3:00 PM MST.

Expected Conditions

Heavy, wet snow is expected throughout the region, with significant accumulations varying by elevation:

• Below 7,000 feet: Total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches.
• Above 7,000 feet: Total snow accumulations between 9 and 16 inches.
• Wind: Gusts are expected to reach as high as 35 mph.

Additional hazards include the potential for isolated power outages due to the heavy, wet nature of the snow.
