Flood Warning Issued for Victoria River Catchment in Northern Territory
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a flood warning for the Victoria River as river levels remain elevated across the catchment with more rain forecast.

The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a Flood Warning (IDD20575) for the Victoria River catchment. The warning was issued at 10:35 am ACST on Monday, 16 March 2026, as an update to ongoing flooding conditions in the region.
Affected Areas
The warning covers several key sections of the Victoria River system, including:
- Upper Victoria River
- Victoria River at Kalkarindji
- Victoria River between Armstrong River and Wattie Creek (including the Camfield River)
- Victoria River between Battle Creek and Armstrong River
- Victoria River below Battle Creek
A Flood Watch is also currently in effect for parts of the Top End, as well as Central and Western Inland Areas.

Residents and travelers in the affected areas are advised to take the following precautions:
- Do not drive, walk, swim, or play in floodwater, as conditions are dangerous.
- Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams, and waterways.
- Obey all road closure signs and plan travel to avoid flooded routes.
- Monitor the ABC and local media for updates.

Expected Conditions
River levels remain elevated across the catchment due to recent rainfall. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast over the coming days, which may lead to further river level rises.

- Victoria River at Kalkarindji: 2.63 m and falling (9:00 am)
- Victoria River at Dashwood Crossing: 14.85 m and falling (9:45 am)
- Victoria River at Victoria River Crossing: 14.89 m and rising (8:45 am)

The current warning is active as of Monday morning. The Bureau of Meteorology expects to issue the next update by 12:00 PM ACST on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
