The alert follows moderate rainfall observed in the catchment area during Friday and Saturday, with further thunderstorms and isolated heavy rainfall expected to impact river levels.

The primary geographic focus of this alert is the Daintree River catchment in Queensland, specifically affecting:
- Daintree Village
- Daintree River at Bairds
- Mossman River at Mossman

However, with forecast rainfall, the river is expected to exceed the minor flood level of 4.00 meters on Saturday evening. Further rises are possible if heavy rainfall persists. Other recorded heights include the Daintree River at Bairds at 4.68 meters and the Mossman River at 4.04 meters, both of which were falling at the time of observation.

The warning was issued at 2:58 pm AEST on Saturday, 14 March 2026. Minor flooding is possible starting Saturday evening and may continue into Sunday, 15 March 2026. The Bureau of Meteorology intends to issue the next update by 11:00 am AEST on Sunday.
