The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued an Initial Minor Flood Warning (IDQ20800) for the Upper Brisbane River. The warning was issued at 8:51 pm AEST on Friday, March 13, 2026, following locally moderate rainfall in parts of the catchment.
Affected Areas
The primary areas under threat include the Upper Brisbane River at Gregor Creek and the Brisbane River reach extending to Wivenhoe Dam in Queensland. Specific river height observations were also noted for the Stanley River, Kilcoy Creek, Cooyar Creek, Emu Creek, Maronghi Creek, and Cressbrook Creek.

Locally moderate rainfall has resulted in rising river and creek levels. As of 8:42 pm Friday, the Brisbane River at Gregor Creek was recorded at 3.30 meters and rising. It is expected to exceed the minor flood level of 3.50 meters within the next few hours and may peak above that level overnight.

The alert is effective immediately, with minor flooding possible overnight Friday into Saturday, March 14, 2026. The Bureau of Meteorology expects to issue the next warning update by 10:00 AM AEST on Saturday.
