Patchwork and Pine Inc. Lip Balm and Artisan Soap Recall Due to Prohibited Ingredients

What Happened

Health Canada has announced a recall of lip balm and artisan soap manufactured by Patchwork and Pine Inc. after it was determined that the products contain prohibited ingredients as per Health Canada’s Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist.

The affected products contain Dioxane and Benzyl Cyanide. Dioxane is prohibited due to its possible carcinogenic effect, while Benzyl Cyanide is prohibited due to the potential release of cyanide. As of February 10, 2026, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada related to these products.

Which Products Are Affected

This recall involves two specific products manufactured in Canada by Patchwork and Pine Inc.:

• Balm B’Y Lip Balm - Bubblegum Flavoured Lip Balm: Approximately 60 units sold between June 2023 and January 2026.
• Dildo Brewing Co. and Museum Sea Salt and Fog Artisan Beer Soap: Approximately 240 units sold between June 2023 and November 2024.

What You Should Do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lip balm and soap and dispose of the items in their regular household garbage.

Health Canada also reminds consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to these or other cosmetic products by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
