Nissan Recalls 2026 Kicks and Sentra Models Over Seat Frame Welding Defect
Nissan North America is recalling 30 vehicles from the 2026 model year due to front seat frames that may become loose, increasing injury risks during a crash.
What Happened
Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2026 model year vehicles because the hook bracket of the front seat frames may be insufficiently welded. This defect can cause the front seat frames to become loose, resulting in a failure to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 207, “Seating Systems,” and 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”
Which Products Are Affected
The recall affects a total of 30 units. The following models are included:
- 2026 Nissan Kicks
- 2026 Nissan Sentra
Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on the NHTSA website on March 13, 2026.
What You Should Do
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact Nissan customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan dealers will replace the front seat assemblies free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by May 1, 2026. Owners may also reference Nissan’s internal recall number, PMA64.
Why This Matters
A loose seat may not properly restrain an occupant as intended during a collision. This failure increases the risk of injury to passengers during a crash.
