Lifetime Brands Recalls BUILT LUUM Light Up Tumblers Due to Choking and Battery Ingestion Hazards
Lifetime Brands has recalled approximately 75,700 BUILT LUUM light-up tumblers because the products can break, exposing dangerous button cell batteries to children.
What Happened
Lifetime Brands is recalling the LUUM collection of BUILT-branded light-up tumblers. These plastic drinking cups feature a bottom compartment containing an LED light powered by a preinstalled button cell battery. The tumblers can break, making the button cell batteries accessible to children. This poses significant choking and ingestion hazards. Lifetime Brands has received one report of a child gaining access to the battery and putting it in their mouth, though no injuries have been reported to date.

The recall involves approximately 75,700 units of the BUILT LUUM collection in 16 oz. and 18 oz. capacities. The tumblers were sold in various winter holiday and Fourth of July themes. The theme name, item number, and UPC are printed on a label on the underside or hangtag of the product. Affected items include:

These products were sold nationwide at Kroger, Hy-Vee, Meijer, Nordstrom Rack, and Winn-Dixie stores, and online at Builtny.com from October 2024 through December 2025 for between $10 and $15.
What You Should Do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tumblers and place them in an area inaccessible to children. The button cell battery should be removed and disposed of or recycled according to local hazardous waste procedures.

Why This Matters
