Escape Trailer Industries Recalls 2025 Recreational Trailers Due to Detaching Spare Tire Carrier
Escape Trailer Industries is recalling 1,296 trailers from the 2025 model year because faulty welding may cause spare tire carriers to detach during transit.
What Happened
Escape Trailer Industries LTD. (Escape Trailer) has issued a recall for several 2025 recreational trailer models due to a mechanical defect in the spare tire mount. The spare tire carrier may have been manufactured with incorrect welding, which can lead to the carrier detaching from the trailer while it is being towed.
Which Products Are Affected
The recall impacts a total of 1,296 units. The following 2025 Escape models are included:
- Escape 17 (E17)
- Escape 19 (E19)
- Escape 21 (E21)
- Escape 5.0 (E5.0)
What You Should Do
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact Escape Trailer customer service at 1-604-703-1650. Authorized dealers will replace the faulty spare tire carriers free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed in March 2026. Additionally, owners can verify if their specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is included in the recall by searching on NHTSA.gov, where data became searchable as of March 9, 2026.
Why This Matters
If a spare tire carrier detaches during transit, it becomes a significant road hazard for other motorists. This defect increases the risk of traffic accidents and potential injuries on public roadways.
