Ford Recalls 2025-2026 F-250 and F-350 Trucks Over Driveshaft Separation Risk
Ford Motor Company is recalling over 45,000 Super Duty trucks because a faulty driveshaft weld can fail, causing a loss of drive power and increasing crash risks.
What Happened
Ford Motor Company (Ford) has issued a safety recall for certain 2025 and 2026 model year F-250 SD and F-350 SD vehicles. The recall is due to a defect where the driveshaft friction weld may fail. If this occurs, the rear driveshaft can separate from the vehicle, leading to a sudden loss of drive power.
Which Products Are Affected
This recall affects approximately 45,724 units. The specific vehicles involved include:
- 2025 Ford F-250 SD
- 2026 Ford F-250 SD
- 2025 Ford F-350 SD
- 2026 Ford F-350 SD
Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) for the affected trucks became searchable on the NHTSA website on March 4, 2026.
What You Should Do
Owners of the affected vehicles should contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s internal reference number for this recall is 26S13.
Authorized dealers will inspect the driveshaft serial number and replace the driveshaft if necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners on March 16, 2026. A second letter will be sent once the final remedy is available, which is anticipated for late March 2026.

A sudden loss of drive power while a vehicle is in motion can significantly increase the risk of a crash, posing a danger to the driver and other motorists.
