Micro Bird Recalls School Buses Due to Wheelchair Tie-Down Locking Failure
Corp. Micro Bird, Inc. is recalling 584 school buses because an installation error may prevent wheelchair tie-downs from locking, posing an injury risk.
What Happened
Corp. Micro Bird, Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain school buses due to an installation error that may prevent wheelchair tie-downs from locking. This defect can leave wheelchairs improperly secured while the vehicle is in motion.
Which Products Are Affected
The recall affects approximately 584 units. The following models and year ranges are included:
- 2003-2026 Micro Bird MB II school buses
- 2006-2026 Micro Bird G5 school buses
- 2015-2026 Micro Bird T-Series school buses
What You Should Do
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact Micro Bird Customer Service at 819-477-2012. Dealers will inspect the wheelchair restraints and secure the anchor screw cap as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by April 27, 2026. The manufacturer’s internal number for this recall is 26-120-AUS.
Why This Matters
If a wheelchair is not properly secured, it can move during transit or in the event of a crash. This significantly increases the risk of injury to the wheelchair occupant and other passengers on the bus.
