Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2025-2026 Jetta vehicles due to an assembly error. The transmission ground wire in these vehicles may not have been properly connected, which can result in an open electrical circuit.

The recall affects a total of 96,330 units. The specific models involved include:

• Make/Model: Volkswagen Jetta
• Model Years: 2025 and 2026

Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) for the affected vehicles became searchable on the NHTSA website on March 13, 2026.

Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen’s internal reference number for this recall is 97TC.

Authorized dealers will inspect the transmission ground wire and perform any necessary repairs free of charge. Official owner notification letters are expected to be mailed out by May 8, 2026.

Why This Matters

An open electrical circuit caused by an improperly connected ground wire may draw a higher current than intended. This malfunction significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
