Winnebago Recalls Over 3,000 Motorhomes Due to Fire Risk from Water Tank Heating Pads
Winnebago Industries is recalling several motorhome models, including the Spirit and Minnie Winnie, due to a defect in water tank heating pads that increases the risk of fire.
What Happened
Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) has issued a recall for specific motorhomes equipped with ThermaHeat Tank Pads. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the water tank heating pads in these vehicles may experience high electrical resistance, which can lead to component failure.
Which Products Are Affected
The recall affects approximately 3,045 units. The following models and years are included in the recall:
- Winnebago Spirit, Minnie Winnie, Travato, View, and Navion: Model years 2024-2026
- Winnebago Sunflyer: Model years 2026-2027
- Winnebago Commercial Vehicle: Model years 2021-2026
- Winnebago 425 Commercial Shell: Model years 2023-2026
What You Should Do
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-6939 or 1-800-537-1885. Winnebago’s internal identification number for this recall is 201. Authorized dealers will install a new water tank heating pad free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by March 16, 2026.
Why This Matters
A failure in the heating pad due to high resistance is a serious safety concern, as it significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
